Many people would agree that 2020 has been a tough year globally. Lay-offs, homelessness, and hospitalizations, were all caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Most of us are unaware of how the Coronavirus originally started and how preventable this global pandemic could have been.  Just like H1N1, Bird Flu, Mad Cow Disease, Ebola, and SARS, Covid-19 was created by humans exploiting animals.  These types of pathogens are zoonotic, which means they form in animals and can be transmitted to humans.  Animals in factory farms and wet markets spend their short lived lives in their own waste, in cages, and crammed together in tight spaces. This is a perfect breeding ground for zoonotic diseases.  It will be no surprise when another disease such as coronavirus is brought into existence, if we continue to utilize non-human animals in such a way.
